Fabled Star

Terrain, Cover & Line of Sight

vJuly 30

Asteroid fields, debris, void rifts, stations and gravitic anomalies.

The Rule

Asteroid Field: blocks movement paths, provides Cover. Debris Field: does not block movement, dangerous terrain. Void Rift: dangerous terrain, scenario dependent. Station: blocks movement and Line of Sight. Gravitic Anomaly: scenario effect, pushes or pulls nearby ships.

Explanation

If terrain obscures any amount of a target, the target gains Cover: -1 BS to the attacking player. A unit has Line of Sight if a straight line can be drawn from any point of its base to any point of the target base without crossing blocking terrain. Friendly and enemy ship bases do not block Line of Sight.

Example

A Cruiser shooting a Frigate half-hidden behind an asteroid field attacks at -1 BS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do ships block Line of Sight?

No — only blocking terrain does.

Designer Commentary

Ships never block each other's fire — the third dimension is assumed, and gunlines stay readable.
