Squad Leaders & Cohesion
Multi-base units move from the Squad Leader and must stay in an unbroken chain.
The Rule
One base in the unit is designated the Squad Leader. All movement measurements are taken from the Squad Leader. After moving the Squad Leader, every remaining base must touch at least one other base in the unit and maintain a continuous chain of contact back to the Squad Leader.
Explanation
Applies to Fighters, Bombers, Escorts and Frigates. Casualties are removed so that the Squad Leader is always the last base removed. If only the Squad Leader remains, the unit continues functioning normally.
Example
Valid: Leader ↔ Base ↔ Base ↔ Base. Invalid: Leader ↔ Base Base ↔ Base.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Squad Leader be removed early?
No — it must be the last base removed.
Designer Commentary
A lone surviving Squad Leader still fights at full function — squadrons die hard.
